A collaboration designed to help pharmaceutical, biotech and research laboratories reduce plastic waste without sacrificing performance, traceability, or operational efficiency.

[Dayton, OH] May 15, 2026: PulpFixin®, a leading manufacturer of sustainable labware throughout pharma and biotech, announces a collaboration with Azenta Life Sciences, a global leader in sample management, automation, and cold chain solutions.
The collaboration brings together PulpFixin’s AutoRack® sustainable storage platform with Azenta expertise in sample management and laboratory automation to support organizations seeking more environmentally responsible laboratory workflows.
PulpFixin’s AutoRack® systems are automation-ready 96-, 48- and 24-place 2D barcoded tube racks engineered for long-term cryogenic storage and high-throughput laboratory operations. The platform is designed for compatibility with established FluidX™ tube workflow environments from Azenta, enabling laboratories to adopt more sustainable storage infrastructure without disrupting existing automation or operations. Unlike traditional polypropylene and polycarbonate racks, AutoRack® systems are 100% biodegradable, recyclable, and compostable.
As life sciences organizations continue advancing ESG and sustainability initiatives, the collaboration reflects growing industry demand for solutions that reduce environmental impact while maintaining workflow reliability and scientific integrity.
This work is intended to support laboratories seeking scalable sustainability improvements without requiring major workflow redesign, automation revalidation or disruption to existing sample management workflows.
“Azenta has consistently demonstrated leadership in helping laboratories modernize operations while addressing evolving customer expectations around sustainability,” said Chad Jenkins, CEO of PulpFixin. “This collaboration represents a shared commitment to delivering solutions that support laboratory performance, automation compatibility and environmental responsibility without increasing operational burden or cost.”
This effort further supports organizations looking to reduce the hidden costs associated with plastic waste disposal, recycling logistics, and sustainability reporting requirements across laboratory operations.
“At Azenta, we’re committed to advancing more environmentally responsible laboratory workflows and supporting customers as they work toward their sustainability goals,” said Michael Bussmann, Vice President and General Manager of Consumables and Instruments at Azenta. “We’ve already taken steps in this direction, including offering SBS racks made with 90% recycled content, and we continue to look for ways to expand lower-impact options across our portfolio. By combining PulpFixin’s biodegradable rack platform with established FluidX sample management workflows, we’re enabling laboratories to reduce reliance on conventional plastic lab consumables, while maintaining compatibility with automation systems, sample integrity, cold-chain performance and operational scalability.”
Together, the companies aim to provide laboratories with scalable sample management solutions that support long-term sample integrity, automation readiness, and measurable waste reduction initiatives.
PulpFixin and Azenta Life Sciences will showcase collaborative sustainability solutions and product innovations during SLAS Europe 2026, where PulpFixin serves as the official Sustainability Sponsor.
