Reimagining labware with intelligent, sustainable materials to support the lab of the future.
[Dayton, OH] March 20, 2026: PulpFixin®, a leading manufacturer of sustainable labware for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, today announced a partnership with Scilutions to develop a new generation of smart labware. At the center of this collaboration is the integration of PulpFixin’s flagship product lines—AutoRack™ and AutoBox™—with Scilutions’ permanent sample ID tubes and vials, which incorporate micro-transponders. The result is a new category of smart labware designed to enhance traceability while supporting sustainability goals and reducing reliance on plastic.
PulpFixin’s AutoRack™ 96-, 48- and 24-place 2D barcoded tube racks are 100% biodegradable, recyclable and compostable. They are engineered to meet the rigorous demands of modern automated laboratories while helping facilities achieve critical sustainability targets.

Scilutions’ new SMART LABWARE integrates micro-transponders into glass and plastic components to create permanent sample identification with guaranteed unique IDs. This proprietary manufacturing process enables highly intelligent labware to be produced cost-effectively, accelerating adoption of “lab of the future” capabilities across small- and medium-sized laboratories. Traditional labeling methods remain vulnerable to damage, loss or duplication, particularly when samples originate from multiple sources, creating risk in sample integrity and data reliability.
“As laboratories and workflows scale and evolve, maintaining continuous sample identity through the life cycle becomes challenging”, according to Chad Jenkins, CEO of PulpFixin. “In the lab of the future, traceability isn’t a step, it’s embedded. As new innovations are being developed, sustainability needs to be part of the design, not an afterthought. That is why this partnership is so important.”
“Our teams came together with a shared vision to address one of the biotech and pharmaceutical industries’ greatest challenges: reducing plastic waste while improving sample and data viability,” said Jamie Dewing, VP of Business Development at Scilutions. “PulpFixin products are proof that sustainable solutions can meet or exceed the performance of traditional materials while making a measurable impact on the environment.” Jamie Dewing added, “Through our product design and development teams, we have the ability to collaborate with labs and quickly bring to market unique solutions that will be industry-changing products.”
“Bringing high throughput operational efficiencies with high integrity sample traceability to laboratories would help to accelerate the adoption of ‘lab of the future’ goals which can greatly improve the long lead time of bringing therapeutic and lifesaving medicines to the world.” according to Chad Jenkins.
PulpFixin’s continued innovation reflects growing demand for sustainable practices across health and science industries. By replacing single-use plastics with compostable and biodegradable alternatives, the company enables laboratories to align environmental responsibility with operational performance and cost-efficiency.
